Powerplant Powéo - Pont-sur-Sambre, France
Period: 2008-2009
Architect: Pascal Dutertre
Client: Besix France SA
Used materials: 4.500 m² of sawtooth-bended zinc cassettes (prépatiné PRO Claire thickness 1,5mm supplied by Rheinzink) fixed with spacers on liner trays, 3.600 m² of Douglas wood ( 40 x 380 mm, quality ST II ), 500 m² of Pilkington glass (double sided Linit with Rw 41 dB ), 6.000 m² of corrugated steel, 500 m² of self-made zinc louvers, 450 m² of aluminium powdercoated cassettes and 2.800 m² of insulated roofing (composed of 2 layers of Rhinox – 180mm and 2 layers of bituminous membrane Polygum Turbo Hi-tech).
Because of the neighbourhood (nature park) the architect designed this powerplant as a ‘green’ building with natural elements. He combined natural materials as zinc, wood, glass, greenroofs and so on in a harmonic combination. This building-site proved the capacities of ME Construct as a turn-key company in covering, from the steel cassettes to the sawtooth bended zinc elements (all bended in the workshop in Bree), the Douglas wood, the Pilkington glass and the Derbigum roofing. All is combined with special acoustic demands and calculation for explosion. The finished building shows a unique powerplant that is hidden in the environment and is an example of the “green” philosophy of the power-company.
