Office building De Groote - Zwevezele, Belgium
Period: 2002-2005
Architect: Chris Delafontaine
Client: De Groote Trucks
Used materials: 1.800 m² aluminium standing seam (kalzip alclad stucco, thickness 1 mm) for the office-building and stainless steel for the cladding of the ceiling ( stainless steel 316L, thickness 1mm with honeycomb, finish 2B).
Architect Delafontaine designed a special office building, raised on 4 legs, looking like a fuselage of an airplane. The curved roof and ceiling are covered with aluminium standing seam. This building received 'The galvanization Award 2005'.
The second building is a ‘showroom’ for the trucks. The architect wanted to create a ‘diamant-like’, stainless steel covered ceiling. This project was probably one of the most difficult in the history of ME Construct.
